Installing the Pixel

Below you will find a step-by-step guide on how to generate and install the Masslytics tracking pixel on your website.

Step 1: Create or select your brand

Go to the Masslytics brands page:
https://app.masslytics.io/brands

If the brand you want to measure has not yet been created:

  • Click on Add Brand in the top right corner.
  • Open your website’s homepage in your browser and copy the full URL from the address bar.
  • In Masslytics, enter a name for the brand and paste the base URL in the input field.
A correct base URL looks like:
    https://example.com
    (with or without www)
  • Click on Save.

After a short moment of processing, your brand will appear in the list.

Step 2: Generate the pixel code

Once your brand is listed:

  • Click on the eye icon next to the brand.
  • Click on the button Re-install Masslytics.
  • A modal will appear showing a short script code.
  • Click on Copy to Clipboard to copy your unique pixel code.

Step 3: Add the pixel to your website

The pixel must be added to every page of your website, either:

  • By pasting the script directly into the <head> section of your website’s HTML
  • Or by adding the script to a tag manager, such as Google Tag Manager

Make sure the tag is loaded on all pages of the site.
If you are not familiar with website editing, ask your IT team or web developer to help.

Step 4: Verify installation

After installing the tag, visit your website yourself.
This ensures that Masslytics registers at least one visit and can confirm the tag is present.

To check if the installation was successful:

  • Wait at least 5 minutes
  • Go to the Impact Overview in Masslytics
  • Select your brand in the top right dropdown

If you still see the modal showing your tag code, the installation was not correct.
If you see the dashboard directly (even if it shows zeros), then the tag was successfully installed and your first data has been recorded.

If you have a running campaign with an uploaded ad schedule today, you will see your first campaign results tomorrow.

{info} Do you see a message in orange, stating that we've received data that doesn't match your base URL? This is most often not a problem. It means that we see data coming in from other URL's than the entered one. Most often this comes from www differences or from the use of staging/test environments by your IT department. Ask them in case and let them read this page (they'll understand it), otherwise contact support.
